Speedway Meadow is located along John F. Kennedy Drive, west of Crossover/Transverse Drive in Golden Gate Park. It was the site of the 2002 Pickin' Picnic, and across the street from the 2000 and 2001 Pickin' Picnics.
Parking will be tight so Public transportation is recommended.
From BART
Take BART to the Powell street station in San Francisco, and then go to the surface on the Northwest side Market street and get the 5 Muni line (and then follow the instructions below)
From MUNI
Take the 5 Fulton to 30th Avenue, or the 29 Sunset or N Judah to 34th Avenue (see walking directions, below).
Getting there on foot
. The western edge of Speedway Meadow lies in a valley, so there is no direct approach from the north or south. From the north, enter the park at 30th Avenue. Turn left at JFK Drive, or head straight up the hill, veering a little to the right as you climb (towards a horse corral). Follow the edge of the Polo Stadium around to the left until you reach the western tip of Speedway Meadow. From the south, enter the park at 34th Avenue. Head straight north until you reach the Polo Stadium; turn right along the paved bike path directly in front of the entrance.

NOTE: JFK drive is CLOSED on the weekends from Tea Garden Drive to just EAST of transverse drive. This is the same closure that was in place on Sundays of past years and basically means you cannot get to the fairesite by going along JFK drive from the eastern edge of the park.

From US-101 (Peninsula/South Bay)
9th Street Exit:
- Exit off US-101 at 9th Street. Stay in the two left lanes. These lanes will take you onto 9th Street.
- The two left lanes will cross Market Street and veer LEFT onto Hayes Street. Continue up Hayes Street.
- Turn LEFT on Gough Street.
- Go one block and turn RIGHT on Fell Street.
- Once on Fell Street, stay in the right hand lane and go west on Fell Street to Stanyan (which is right at the border of the park).
- Turn RIGHT on Stanyan and move into the left hand lane.
- Turn LEFT on Fulton. Continue down Fulton to 30th Ave.
- Turn LEFT on 30th Ave.
- Turn LEFT on John F. Kennedy Drive.
- Golden Gate Renaissance Faire will be in Speedway Meadows on your right.
From Hwy 280 (Peninsula/South Bay)
- Exit off Hwy 280 North at 19th Ave.
- Continue down 19th Ave to Golden Gate Park.
- 19th turns into Cross Over Drive. Stay in the left hand lane.
- The left lane comes to a stop light. Continue through the light and make a quick LEFT onto Transverse Drive.
- At the stop sign make a RIGHT onto John F. Kennedy Drive.
- Continue down John F. Kennedy Drive to approximately 25th Avenue.
- Golden Gate Renaissance Faire will be in Speedway Meadows on your right.
From I-80 (Bay Bridge/East Bay)
9th Street Exit:
- Exit off I-80 at 9th Street. The offramp will take you onto Harrison Street. Go one block to 9th Street.
- Turn RIGHT onto 9th Street.
- The two left lanes will cross Market Street and veer LEFT onto Hayes Street. Continue up Hayes Street.
- Turn LEFT on Gough Street.
- Go one block and turn RIGHT on Fell Street.
- Once on Fell Street, stay in the right hand lane and go west on Fell Street to Stanyan (which is right at the border of the park).
- Turn RIGHT on Stanyan and move into the left hand lane.
- Turn LEFT on Fulton. Continue down Fulton to 30th Ave.
- Turn LEFT on 30th Ave.
- Turn LEFT on John F. Kennedy Drive.
- Golden Gate Renaissance Faire will be in Speedway Meadows on your right.
From Golden Gate Bridge/Marin/North Bay:
- After crossing the Golden Gate Bridge, take the 19th Ave Exit.
- Off of 19th Ave exit, follow Park Presidio and turn RIGHT onto Cabrillo Street.
- Continue down Cabrillo Street to 25th Ave.
- Turn LEFT on 25th Ave. Stay in the right hand lane.
- After crossing Fulton Street veer RIGHT, onto Transverse Drive into the park.
- At the stop sign turn RIGHT onto John F. Kennedy Drive.
- Golden Gate Renaissance Faire will be in Speedway Meadows on your left.
